Our clients include professional and college sports teams as well as luxury and fashion brands and leading corporations in health, finance, entertainment and technology. We’re growing rapidly and have a great opportunity for a sports historian (full-time salaried position with benefits).
Support our sports clients in the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL and college athletic departments but also some corporate clients, as needed
Conduct historical research on-site at Heritage Werks locations, at client locations and at outside repositories, as needed, including identifying relevant repositories
Translate heritage content (including stories, images, timelines, fun facts, artifacts, etc.) into engaging public content for sports fans — including digital/web, video, experiential and in-stadium executions
Curate exhibits and digital content, including choosing imagery and objects (in cooperation with our archivists), creating exhibit copy, coordinating production details, negotiating and securing image rights, etc.
Create research reports and other client deliverables (including contributing research, writing and image selection and formatting documents), while balancing thoroughness of research against time efficiency
Present ideas, recommendations and content to clients including creation of presentations using company templates and occasionally leading seminars/information sessions for sports fans or front office staff
Collaborate closely with historians, archivists, researchers, client services staff and digital team
Execute Heritage Werks marketing and business development projects such as proposals, presentations, etc.

Travel required, sometimes on short notice
Reports to the Director of Content & Communications
Ideal applicant would work on site in our Atlanta-area office, although remote work arrangements would be considered
Trained historian specializing in 20th-century sports history (M.A. or Ph.D. preferred but advanced undergraduate work combined with relevant work experience will be considered)
At least five years experience as a curator, teacher, researcher, writer or in another relevant professional role (marketing, PR, communications or sports team front office experience especially desirable)
Experience with digital content strategy, museum or stadium exhibits and/or image licensing a plus
